The celebration of Memorial Day 2016 had a special meaning as Brig. Gen Chris Azzano, commander, 96th Wing at Eglin Air Force Base, dedicated the Veteran’s Tribute Tower. He asked questions on the state of Air Force affairs and charged the audience to support the troops.
It has been almost two months since I entered the uphill race for Florida Congressmen Miller’s seat. I had a tentative campaign manager with a solid treasurer and a professional website individual to complement my bank and business network. The off hours working and weekends were demanding but support of family, friends and church folks took most of the demand from me.
The most asked question was why are you running for this office? The answer was simple as I looked at local politics and similarity to the national scene. We are asked to do “our jobs” with accountability but the local Sheriff’s misdeeds, bonuses for doing their job and the 2012 Tourist Development Council fiasco pay no toll. These events led me to declare my candidacy. I am an ordinary but highly qualified person with a proven track record on technology and training, discriminators for improving the economy, immigration and military stature.
My simple thought is to -“GET INVOLVED”. I now know it is a motivation beyond description to “put your money where your mouth is”! What an accomplishment to pull people and ideas into a vision for Northwest Florida and force that vision upon the national scene. For me, the campaign to date is a personal payback to this country for all the blessings of this life-God Bless America.
